Shaughnessy Village

Shaughnessy Village is a thriving neighborhood within walking distance of downtown that resides in the borough of Ville Marie. It is a densely populated area due to its many towering buildings. There is a variety of Victorian buildings intertwined with office structures, academic institutions such as Concordia University, and public transit stations such as Atwater and Guy Concordia.

The area is named after the Shaughnessy House that was built in 1874 for Thomas Shaughnessy, who at the time was the president of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. The building is now part of the Canadian Center for Architecture and is the center point of the 1km2 neighborhood.
